Healthy & Nutritious Meals

We aim to provide healthy and nutritious meals, whilst meeting the dietary requirements of all our children. This may include children suffering from allergies, requiring a diet free from gluten or dairy and also being a vegetarian.

Our meals are provided by specialist caterers - apetito.

With over 60 years’ experience of creating great tasting meals, expertly developed by the Chefs and Dietitian, as they understand the importance of creating a well-balanced diet, meeting a range of dietary needs, specifically for children. apetito meals are frozen to lock in nutrients and taste. Delicious and nutritious, apetito create the best food experiences for little ones.

Nutrition
apetito’s tasty and nutritious meals not only support your child’s growth, but also encourage them to try new meals with exciting new flavours, textures and colours. Menus are planned to ensure a diverse range of foods are eaten, whilst ensuring your little ones receive the goodness they need to thrive.

Safety
apetito’s accredited laboratories and strict safety procedures ensure the meals your children are enjoying are safe and nutritious. apetito operate a food safe system called ‘positive release’. This guarantees the food is safe with nutritional & allergenic information verified prior to providing to the nursery.

Sustainability
apetito are committed to sustainable sourcing and in 2019, won the Queens Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development, one of only six companies in the UK to do so. This highlights their success in both sourcing sustainable ingredients; for e.g. 100% of their wild fish is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and also an ongoing commitment to reduce their carbon footprint.

_________
Children are offered water to drink with meals and throughout the day and milk is provided with snacks.

There are regular opportunities for the children to participate in cooking activities. Children are also encouraged to plant, water and harvest herbs and other seasonal vegetables in the nursery garden.

We are able to cater for specific dietary requirements and will work with parents and carers to meet a child's individual needs. Due to the high number of children with allergies we operate a strict no outside food policy within the nursery.

The Little Lane Nursery work with local dietitian, Victoria Francis, who oversees our menus, including snacks and breakfast, not catered by apetito.

Victoria will hold periodic parent/carer information evenings through out the year, where she will be available to ask any questions about your child's diet and requirements.

Victoria has previously been involved with a nursery school where she has provided advice and guidance on the menus.
