Easton on Hill

Our Building

The Little Lane Nursery is proudly based within a purpose-built Norwegian-style log cabin, originally constructed in 2011 as a preschool. The thoughtful layout and design create a unique environment that feels both inviting and inspiring — a space that naturally encourages learning, exploration and positive behaviour.

In 2019, we expanded our provision to welcome children from as young as 6 weeks. Our dedicated baby suite is located just across the garden within a beautifully converted school building. With its high ceilings and light-filled space, it provides a calm and nurturing environment for our youngest children.

We continued to grow in 2021 with the addition of a bespoke modular pod, creating a dedicated space for our preschool-aged children.

Across the nursery, our open-plan rooms are carefully designed to offer a balance of exploration and cosy, quieter moments with a child’s key person.

Throughout the day, children are provided with a wide range of opportunities to engage in role play, creative activities, and sensory experiences including water and sand play.

By taking the time to understand each child’s individual interests, our dedicated team are able to tailor play and learning opportunities both indoors and outdoors. Every child is supported by a named key person from their very first day, helping them to build secure relationships, develop confidence and achieve important early milestones — giving parents and carers reassurance that their child’s needs are consistently understood and met.

We are also proud to offer our own on-site forest school area, Buddleia Grove. Nestled within a natural woodland setting, this special space features a cosy yurt with a woodburner, a vegetable patch, den building areas, a fire square, and even a handcrafted slide. With a storytelling chair set amongst the trees, it provides the perfect environment for adventure, imagination and outdoor learning throughout the seasons.

Our Rooms

We have 3 rooms at The Little Lane Nursery for our babies, toddlers and preschoolers:

Seedlings Room, Saplings Room and Woodland Room. Our garden has a tee-pee and Wendy house with plenty of fun activities for the children.

Seedlings Room

12 Babies, 1:3 Ratio

The Seedlings Room is thoughtfully designed for our youngest family members. This beautiful, open space with high ceilings creates a calm and airy environment, incorporating a dedicated eating area, a sensory-rich messy play space, and a peaceful sleep area with bespoke full-sized cots.

Styled with a soft, vintage feel, the room has been carefully created to offer a true “home from home” environment — something we know is especially important for infants as they begin their nursery journey.

24 Children, ratio 1:4/1:8 (dependent on age)

The Saplings Room is designed for children aged 2 years and over, set within our purpose-built Norwegian-style log cabin. Carefully considered in both layout and design, the space makes the most of its natural wood construction, creating a calm, warm and inviting environment for children to learn and grow.

The open-plan layout encourages exploration and independence, while also allowing for quieter, more focused moments throughout the day.

The room benefits from free-flow access onto a covered terrace, giving children the autonomy to move between indoor and outdoor play and choose activities that spark their interest.

12 Children, ratio 1:8

The Woodland Room is our preschool space for the oldest children at our Easton-on-the-Hill setting, providing a dedicated environment for those in their final time before starting school.

This open-plan room is thoughtfully arranged into a variety of engaging areas, including arts and crafts, a cosy relaxation space, and a home corner, allowing children to explore, create and learn through play.

Housed within a purpose-built pod, the room has been carefully designed to offer a stimulating and inviting environment, fully equipped to support both children and staff throughout the day.

Continuing our natural wooden aesthetic, the space has a calm and welcoming feel, with free-flow access to the garden. This enables children to move seamlessly between indoor and outdoor learning, supporting independence, confidence and school readiness.

Our Garden

The Little Lane in Easton has a beautiful wrap around grassed garden and artificial laid grass garden for our baby room.  The garden is segmented into various areas, including a construction shed, planting area, sand shed and water pump station to name but a few.

In the summer months we love nothing more than to get our Bell Tent out.

We are also incredibly lucky to have our own on site copse of wood joined to our nursery site, where the children have slowly been establishing are camp.
