Out & About

Little Lane Transport

It is part of the Little Lane ethos that we want our children to get out and explore. We take the children on mini-excursions to experience the local area; whether it’s a trip to the travel agent to collect brochures for role play, riding down to the meadows for picnics and feeding the ducks, or a morning walk to Burghley.

To support these outings, we have invested in a range of specially designed transport options to safely accommodate our children. Across our settings, we use quad pushchairs and double pushchairs, along with a smaller walking wagon in Stamford that can carry up to four children. At our Easton on the Hill setting, we also use a Winther Turtle Bus, which can seat up to six children.

All equipment is weather-ready with protective canopies, ensuring we are prepared for whatever the day brings. Every outing is carefully planned, with regular risk assessments carried out and clear procedures in place, so children can explore their surroundings safely and confidently.

Our Minibus

The Little Lane Nursery has invested in our very own minibus — a VW Transporter Shuttle (you won’t miss us in our flowery branding!). The vehicle is fully equipped with appropriate car seats for each child, and during outings we travel with up to 7 children alongside 2 members of staff, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey for everyone.

Having our own minibus gives us the flexibility to access outdoor learning and forest school whenever we choose. We now run forest school and outdoor learning sessions across four days each week, allowing the majority of our preschool children to benefit from these enriching experiences.

It also means we can bring our planning to life with meaningful trips — for example, visiting a local farm to see the new baby lambs — helping children connect their learning to the world around them.
